Who is Professor Dumbledore?

When the Harry Potter saga begins Professor Dumbledore is the headmaster of of Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Apart from Harry, Dumbledore is no doubt the most important figure in the Harry Potter world. He was the one who defeated Gellert Grindelwald. He also found Tom Riddle, the later Lord Voldemort, as a boy and brought him to Hogwarts to get an education in magic. As such, he lay the foundation for the rise of Lord Voldemort to power. He then became the centre of resistance until his death and was essential in resolving both wizarding wars.
