LEGO® Mixel Joints & Stud-Based Articulation

Mixel-style joints use compact 5mm ball-and-socket connections to create poseable sections without requiring a full Technic frame. Because they integrate easily with standard LEGO® plates and bricks, they are especially useful for smaller builds where space and scale matter.

Several small articulation elements are commonly associated with the Mixel joint system. These include plates with integrated 5mm balls and matching socket elements designed to create compact poseable connections.

Friction Joints That Hold a Pose

Mixel joints rely on friction between the ball and socket, allowing articulated sections to move while still holding their position. This makes them useful for models that need to be posed rather than simply hinged in one direction.

  • Technic Ball Joints: Pin-and-axle compatible parts for steering, suspension, mechs and heavier structural articulation.

Compatible 5mm Ball Connections

The Mixel articulation system uses the 5mm ball standard. Some compatible towball and socket elements can be used to bridge stud-based construction with Technic-style mechanisms, but the primary purpose of this collection is small-scale articulation rather than structural Technic movement.
