LEGO® Ball and Socket Joint Parts
If you're looking for LEGO® ball and socket joints, you're probably building something that needs movement — a creature, a mech, a vehicle, or articulated limbs.
But there are two completely different systems used for articulation. Choosing the wrong one means the parts won’t connect to your build.
Which Ball Joint System Do You Need?
Building Small Creatures, Mobs or Robots?
If you're building at minifigure scale — like Minecraft mobs, small dragons, droids or compact robots — you need stud-based articulation parts.
These connect directly to regular bricks and plates.
Building Vehicles, Mechs or Heavy-Duty Builds?
If you're working with Technic frames, suspension systems or large articulated limbs, you need pin-based ball joints.
These use Technic pins and axles instead of studs.
Why the Difference Matters
Stud-Based Joints connect to bricks and plates. They’re ideal for small builds and creature articulation.
Technic Ball Joints connect using pins and axles. They’re designed for structural strength and mechanical movement.
If you land on the wrong type, the parts simply won’t connect to your model — which is why we’ve separated them clearly.
What Can You Build?
- Articulated Minecraft-style mobs
- Custom dragons and creatures
- Small robotic builds
- Technic steering systems
- Heavy-duty mech limbs
- Suspension systems for vehicles
Choose the system that matches how you build, and you’ll get clean movement without compatibility issues.
