1980s Castle Factions

The 1980s established LEGO®'s original Castle faction system. Black Falcon minifigures are among the most recognisable of the era — blue and black torso prints with the falcon crest across dozens of sets. Forestmen brought green-printed tunics and a distinct outlaw aesthetic. Crusader-era figures carry the red cross torso print that defined early Castle design. Lion Knights bridge the two decades with consistent crest printing across multiple set generations and a direct link to the modern 10305 Icons set.

1990s Castle Factions

The 1990s brought LEGO® Castle's most visually striking minifigures. Wolfpack figures carry the wolf-head crest across printed torsos and shields — one of the most searched Castle factions and a staple of 90s set collecting. Royal Knights feature the regal lion crest from set 6090. Fright Knights pushed into darker bat-themed territory, with named figures including Basil the Bat Lord. Dragon Knights cover both the armoured dragon-crest faction and the Dragon Masters sub-group, including Majisto the wizard. Black Knights round out the decade as a distinct faction frequently confused with — but separate from — the 80s Black Falcons.
