Collection: LEGO Pirate Minifigures
🏴☠️ LEGO® Pirate Themes – Sail the Brick Seas!
Set sail on a swashbuckling adventure with the classic LEGO® Pirates theme! Launched in 1989 and inspired by legendary films like The Goonies and Pirates of Penzance, this iconic LEGO® series brought the golden age of piracy to the brick world with sails, ships, and unforgettable characters.
The story begins with the legendary ship Black Seas Barracuda (set 6285), featuring detailed rigging, custom sails, and the iconic Captain Redbeard. This set became so popular that it was re-released twice: in 2002 as set 10040 and in 2020 as the LEGO® Ideas set 21322 Pirates of Barracuda Bay.
As the theme grew, LEGO® expanded its pirate universe with English and Spanish armadas, islanders, sea monsters, and even mermaids and skeleton warriors. Today, there are nearly 200 unique LEGO® pirate minifigures—each telling a story of high-seas adventure and treasure hunts.
🚢 Famous Pirate Ships in LEGO® History
- Black Seas Barracuda – The original icon (set 6285)
- Skull’s Eye Schooner – Fan-favorite flagship (set 6286)
- Brickbeard’s Bounty – A modern return to classic piracy
- Imperial Flagship – A majestic ship from the imperial fleet
There was even a Pirate Advent Calendar released in 2009, giving builders a festive way to collect minifigures and accessories.
⚓ LEGO® Pirate Minifigures Through the Years
The pirate crew began with 1989’s bluecoat "Imperial Soldiers"—complete with tricorn hats and muskets. Soon after, LEGO® introduced rugged pirates with eye patches, hooks, and peg legs. These early figs defined the LEGO® pirate aesthetic still loved today.
Modern pirate minifigures feature even more variety: redcoats, blackbeards, bandana-wearing rogues, pirate queens, and spooky skeletons. Their gear ranges from cutlasses and flintlock pistols to grappling hooks and treasure maps.
🏝️ Pirates in Other LEGO® Worlds
LEGO® pirates have also invaded other themes! You’ll find seafaring rogues in the Pirates of the Caribbean collection and in the airborne mischief of NINJAGO® Skybound.
So whether you're building a treasure island, staging a sea battle, or just want to collect every pirate hat variation ever made — there's something for every LEGO® adventurer here.
LEGO® parts are intended for builders aged 4 and up. Small parts may pose a choking hazard for children under 3 years old.
