The Ultimate Guide to LEGO® Clone Troopers: All Legions, Phases & Commanders

For the Republic! Your Ultimate Clone Trooper Field Manual is Here.

Ever felt lost in a sea of white armor? You're not alone! The Grand Army of the Republic is vast, but it's also one of the most exciting parts of the LEGO® Star Wars universe to collect. This is your definitive guide to the clones' origins, their armor, every major legion, and the pivotal moments that defined them. Welcome to the corps, rookie!

The Origins: An Army Forged on Kamino

Before the first shot was fired, the Clone Army was a secret. Grown on the stormy world of Kamino, every trooper was a perfect genetic copy of the legendary bounty hunter, Jango Fett. This template ensured they were born to be the most effective soldiers in the galaxy, but their shared DNA also concealed a sinister secret: a bio-chip with inhibitor programming, waiting for the command that would change the galaxy forever: Order 66.

Armor Evolution: Phase I vs. Phase II

The first visual difference every collector notices is the armor. Throughout the Clone Wars, the Republic's gear evolved, and LEGO® has captured this beautifully.

Phase I Armor

The original, sleek armor from Attack of the Clones. It features a distinctive T-shaped visor, appearing clean and uniform. This was the armor that first marched into battle on Geonosis.

Phase II Armor

As the war raged on, gritty and more advanced Phase II armor was introduced. Seen in Revenge of the Sith, this gear allowed for greater specialization and the iconic legion markings that helped distinguish the clones as individuals.

The Great Legions: Brotherhood and Color

A clone's legion was his family. These markings represent their commanders, their most famous battles, and the unique dynamics they shared with their Jedi Generals.

The 501st Legion

Colors: Blue
Key Figures: Captain Rex, ARC Trooper Fives
Jedi General: Anakin Skywalker
The most famous clone legion. Known for their unconventional tactics, their loyalty was legendary, especially Rex's bond with Ahsoka Tano. Tragically, they became "Vader's Fist" and marched on the Jedi Temple during Order 66.

The 212th Attack Battalion

Colors: Orange
Key Figures: Commander Cody
Jedi General: Obi-Wan Kenobi
The steadfast and reliable 212th were masters of assault, famously fighting on Utapau. The bond between Cody and Kenobi was one of mutual respect, making Cody's betrayal during Order 66 all the more heartbreaking.

The 327th Star Corps

Colors: Yellow
Key Figures: Commander Bly (lore)
Jedi General: Aayla Secura
Hardy troopers known for serving on harsh alien worlds like Felucia, the 327th are defined by their striking yellow stripes and unique helmet designs.

The 41st Elite Corps

Colors: Green/Gray Camouflage
Key Figures: Commander Gree
Jedi General: Luminara Unduli / Yoda
Specialists in jungle environments, the 41st are most famous for their deployment on Kashyyyk, where they fought alongside the Wookiees until Commander Gree's fateful attempt to execute Master Yoda.

The Coruscant Guard

Colors: Red
Key Figures: Commander Fox, Commander Thorn
Serving as military police on Coruscant, the Shock Troopers of the Guard protected senators and vital locations.

The 104th "Wolfpack" Battalion

Colors: Gray
Key Figures: Commander Wolffe
Jedi General: Plo Koon
Led by the grizzled, one-eyed Commander Wolffe, the Wolfpack was known for its tenacity and distinctive, wolf-inspired markings.

Collector's Corner: Other Notable Legions & Units

Beyond the main legions, the Grand Army was filled with numerous specialized units. These are some of the most sought-after figures for dedicated collectors looking to build a truly diverse army.

  • The 332nd Company: A division of the 501st loyal to Ahsoka Tano, recognizable by their iconic orange Togruta helmet markings and led by Captain Vaughn.
  • The 187th Legion: Mace Windu's unit, distinguished by their striking purple markings.
  • Rancor Battalion: An elite ARC Trooper unit from the animated series, known for their maroon markings and led by ARC Trooper Commanders Colt, Havoc, and Blitz.
  • Horn Company: A unit with sand green and lime markings that served under Jedi Master Eeth Koth.
  • 91st Mobile Reconnaissance Corps: Led by Commander Neyo, this legion is famous for its BARC Troopers and ARF Troopers in a recon role.
  • Bomb Squad Troopers: Also known as "Tango Company," these clones specialized in defusing explosives and are identifiable by their bright orange markings.
  • Geonosis Troopers: Clones with a unique dark orange and brown camouflage pattern for the Second Battle of Geonosis.
  • 442nd Siege Battalion: A unit with green markings that specialized in planetary assaults.

Elite Specialists: The Tip of the Spear

  • Clone Force 99 ("The Bad Batch"): The most famous special forces unit is Clone Force 99. Comprised of Hunter, Wrecker, Tech, Echo, and Crosshair, these genetically mutated clones had unique abilities. You can assemble the entire squad and their young companion Omega right here in our The Bad Batch collection!
  • ARC Troopers: The best of the best. Elite commandos like Fives who could operate independently and turn the tide of any battle.
  • Clone Pilots: The aces needed to crew your gunships, starfighters, and walkers.

The Most Wanted: Clones We Still Need

While LEGO® has given us an incredible variety, some fan-favorite commanders are still missing. These are the "grail" figures on every collector's most wanted list.

  • Commander Bacara and the Galactic Marines: Instantly recognizable by their unique visor and heavy snow gear, neither Bacara nor his troopers have ever been officially produced.
  • Commander Appo of the 501st Legion: The clone who marched on the Jedi Temple at the head of Vader's Fist remains a key missing figure from Order 66 dioramas.
  • Commander Thorn of the Coruscant Guard: With his heroic last stand and signature "Thorn" helmet art, he is one of the most highly-requested Shock Trooper variants.
